Twenty-six Dogs Set to Graduate from Susquehanna Service Dogs
Harrisburg, Pa., April 27, 2015 /3BL Media/ —Twenty-six dogs and their partners will graduate from Susquehanna Service Dogs’ program on May 1, 2015 at 6 p.m. at Dauphin County Technical School in Harrisburg, PA. This 2015 graduation ceremony celebrates the new working dog teams, including service dogs, facility and courthouse dogs, demonstration therapy interview dogs, State Police K-9 dogs, and companion dogs.
Susquehanna Service Dogs (SSD) will also recognize the volunteers who have contributed to the program throughout the year.
“While this evening is a celebration, it’s also very emotional,” says Pam Foreman, program director. “You see the interaction of everyone who has played a part in this dog’s life to make them successful.”
Doors open at 5 p.m. A reception will follow the ceremony.
Susquehanna Service Dogs, a program of Keystone Human Services, breeds, raises, trains, and places assistance dogs to support children and adults with disabilities. An assistance dog may pull a manual wheelchair, open a door, retrieve items, alert to sounds, offer balance help, or perform other tasks to increase a person’s independence and ability to be involved in their community.
SSD is a fully accredited member of Assistance Dogs International. Since 1993, they have placed over 240 service dogs.
