Featured Speakers

JuanCarlos Hunt is Director of the Office for Civil Rights and Diversity at the US Agency for International Development (USAID) (@USAID). In this role, Director Hunt works to advance USAID’s policy of diversity, inclusion, and transparency, ensuring the Agency maintains the highest standards in promoting equal opportunity and prohibiting discrimination. He also serves as the Co-Chair of USAID's Executive Diversity Council, working to promote diversity throughout the Agency. Prior to that, he was the Director of EEO and Diversity Programs for the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EIOR) at the Department of Justice. Director Hunt's career also includes time as a trial attorney at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and as an associate at the multinational law firm of Squire, Sanders, and Dempsey.

Sharon Rudy is Director of the Global Health Fellows Program II (@GHFPII) at the Public Health Institute (@PHIGlobalHealth). GHFP II helps the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) address its immediate and emerging human capital needs by developing a diverse group of global health professionals to support and sustain the effectiveness of the Agency's current and future health programs. Sharon has a PhD in Counseling and Organizational Consulting from the University of Maryland College Park, and has more than 35 years of experience designing and implementing international health and education activities in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.

John Crockett is Senior Program Manager for the Biosecurity Engagement Program (BEP) at CRDF Global (@crdfglobal), a non-profit organization that promotes international scientific and technical collaboration through grants, technical resources, training and services. John leads a team that implements projects that reduce the risks posed by biological threats. In the dozens of countries where BEP is active, the overarching goal of programmatic activities is to work with governments, scientists, and other stakeholders to build sustainable capacity for biosecurity, biosafety, disease surveillance, and cooperative scientific research. John has directed programs in Eastern Europe, and South and Central Asia, and the Caucuses for agencies including the U.S. State Department, USAID, and Mercy Corps.

Laura Asiala (@LauraAsialaCSR) is the Vice President of Client Relations & Public Affairs at PYXERA Global (@PYXERAGlobal). Passionate about the power of business to help solve the world’s most intransigent problems, she leads the effort to attract more participation of businesses to contribute to sustainable development, through their people and their work. Laura’s 30 year career in international business included roles in finance, marketing, business development, HR, branding, communications, and corporate social responsibility. Prior to joining PYXERA Global, she was the Director of Corporate Citizenship at the Dow Corning Corporation where she led the development of their international corporate volunteer program and oversaw CSR strategies and relationships.
