Timberland Sample Sale Benefits Victims of Hurricane Matthew
In the wake of Hurricane Matthew, a devastating October storm that struck communities in Haiti and the U.S., employees of outdoor lifestyle brand Timberland mobilized to support the disaster relief effort. As a company with a longstanding commitment to protecting and restoring the outdoors and supporting communities where it lives and operates, Timberland’s Stratham, NH employees raised and donated over $26,000 to the American Red Cross.
The funds were raised at Timberland’s biannual employee sample sale, at which the company sells past-season product samples to its employees to raise money for local nonprofit organizations. In only three hours, employees raised over $26,000, all of which was donated to the American Red Cross to help those impacted by Hurricane Matthew.
“During times of disaster the American Red Cross relies on individual and corporate gifts to meet the needs of those affected,” said Maria Devlin, CEO of American Red Cross New Hampshire/Vermont. “The funds raised by Timberland employees allowed us the opportunity to put their compassion into action. Their contributions went immediately to feed those who were in shelters, to get clean up kits to those residents needing to muck out their homes, or to provide medication, clothes or shoes. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity shown by Timberland employees.”
