Tetra Tech’s STEM Program Wins 2017 EDR PRISM Award
Environmental Data Resources (EDR) presented Tetra Tech with the 2017 Property Risk, Insights, Strategy & Markets (PRISM) Award for Community Service at the second, annual PRISM Industry Awards in Charlotte, North Carolina, in May. EDR’s PRISM Awards honor high-level project work, leadership, recent business growth, innovation, and community service. The Community Service Award recognizes Tetra Tech’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Program for demonstrating extensive service to local communities with a measureable, positive impact.
Tetra Tech’s STEM Program was launched as part of the company’s 50th Anniversary in 2016. Employees around the world participated in or hosted events that reached more than 5,800 people in 5 countries. Through our STEM Program, our employees share their passion for innovation by engaging students in activities including classroom visits, science projects, and mentorships. Many of our STEM Program presentations cover topics such as engineering, the importance of STEM, and Tetra Tech’s work in STEM-related fields.
One of Tetra Tech’s popular classroom activities teaches students about the importance of watersheds, engages the students in a hands-on watershed activity, and provides Future Engineering: The Clean Water Challenge books to the school. Students learn about the water cycle, what happens in a watershed, and the watershed where they live. Tetra Tech employees lead the students in a first-hand experiment to observe how a watershed works and encourages them to discuss how they can keep their local communities clean.
Tetra Tech’s STEM Program continues to grow and its employees are actively participating to spark a passion for science and engineering fields. We are honored to have been recognized for our commitment to our local communities and continuing to support STEM education where we live and work.
