Team Work Brings Magnificent Results to Turkey
At Mining Technique Turkey, even though selling is our profession, we believe that crucial assets of a company are the ones that you can not sell- your corporate DNA, your culture, your reputation, your values and your people. Our company is made up of team members working together as one. For us to become and remain successful, each team member works toward the common goal of our organization. We focus on providing a sense of belonging that is essential to creating highperforming teams and strong team work automatically leads to successful achievements and positive outcomes.
Though mining business faced problems and challenges throughout the year 2016, Atlas Copco Turkey MR team proved once again, teams that do not give in and continue sweating altogether end up with magnificent outcome. In August 2016, MR Turkey received a major bulk order from Limak Construction Company for Northern Marmara Motorway construction project in which SmartROC surface rock drills and related services will be used for various applications, for instance aggregate quarrying, slope cutting and stabilization, rock reinforcement in the connection roads of the Asian side to Istanbul’s Third Bosphorus Bridge. SmartROC has the highest technology and safety standards, at the same time it brings the best fuel efficiency with the best hole quality in its class in the world. Thanks to the performance of the rigs and the cooperation with Atlas Copco, Limak Construction Company decided to continue with the same brand and technology that they bought for a dam project last year.
While setting and getting prepared for motorway project, another prestigious project (“World’s Biggest Airport” which is the third international airport in Istanbul) decided to speedup the construction and major bulk order received from IGA consortium for FlexiROC D65 surface rock drills in November 2016. Istanbul is one of the busiest airport hubs in the world and the gateway between Europe and Asia. First phase is planned to be opened in first half of 2018 and the rigs already started to be delivered to the project in the beginning of this year. FlexiROC D65 rigs are the new benchmark in drilling operations in terms of productivity and robustness and capable of drilling up to 203 mm hole size based on down the hole drilling principle in large quarries and open pit mines.
While MR team was planning a year end meeting, another good news was added in “achievements to celebrate” list of the meeting. Team has won an equipment and service order valued at MEUR 22.2 (MSEK 210) from Turkish mining and construction company Cengiz Holding A.Ş for use in copper mine, tunnel and highway projects. The equipment includes the Simba ME7 C long-hole drilling rig and other machines to be used in the expansion of an existing copper mine and the opening of two new underground mines. The order also includes raise boring machine Robbins 91RH for construction of the new Zigana tunnel in northeastern Turkey, as well as Boomer L2 D drill rigs for the construction of the Northern Marmara Motorway near Istanbul. All the machines are known for their energy efficiency, safety and ergonomics.
“My team has high aspirations and a desire to win. Good is never good enough. I can observe that they are always pushing to go farther, better, faster. It’s not just about shortterm financial performance. It’s about building something truly special and lasting.” says Erdem Tüzünalp, GM Mining Technique Business Area, “They focus their energies externally on delighting customers, take responsibility for overall business performance, do the right thing for the business. Impressive for me to see that I lead a team of people who are doers, not talkers. I always encourage them to be themselves and recognize the importance of teamwork, being open to other people’s ideas and debating issues collaboratively and strive to turn commitment into strong performance and motivate them to excel over and over again.“
