Team PA Partners to Announce Governor’s ImPAct Awards - Sanofi Pasteur is Recognized

HERSHEY, June 6, 2013 /3BL Media/ - The top 50 Pennsylvania companies who are creating jobs and making positive contributions to the state’s economy were recognized today at the inaugural Governor’s ImPAct awards.

Team Pennsylvania Foundation President and CEO Matt Zieger said the Foundation is a founding partner because this awards program builds on the legacy created by the Best Places to Work in PA, another initiative that celebrates Pennsylvania businesses and their workforces.

“This is a celebration of those that are truly blazing a new path to a brighter economic future for Pennsylvania,” Zieger told the crowd of nearly 800 people. “We are here not only to celebrate job creation, but also your bold leadership, your ground-breaking entrepreneurship, your world-changing innovation, and those of you who break down borders to new markets around the world.  You bring prosperity and new opportunities to Pennsylvania’s communities and it is for this reason we are celebrating you today.”

The Governor’s ImPAct Awards recognized 50 companies from throughout the state in five categories: Jobs First, Community Impact, Small Business Impact, Entrepreneurial Impact and Export Impact.

Nominations for each award were provided by the state’s regional economic development partners – the Partnerships for Regional Economic Performance (PREP) network. Each of the 10 PREP regions was eligible to submit up to five nominations per category. A total of 250 nominations were received.

Governor Tom Corbett said the awards program was created to “celebrate and recognize the Pennsylvania companies and individuals that are investing in our workers and helping to move our economy forward.”

“Government doesn’t create jobs – it’s the businesses being honored today and the businesses throughout the state that are providing job opportunities for Pennsylvanians,” Corbett said to the crowd of nearly 800 attendees. “It’s those same businesses that have created more than 125,000 private sector jobs the past two years.”

The program is being sponsored at no cost to the taxpayers by the state’s private sector partner, Team PA and coordinated by the Department of Community and Economic Development, Team PA and Journal Multimedia. Representatives from Team PA and Journal Multimedia evaluated the nominations and selected the award recipients.
