TD Bank Group Receives Canada's First WELL Certification in Building Standards
The 23rd floor of TD Tower – located at King and Bay in the heart of Toronto's financial district – is Canada's first project to receive WELL certification. The floor was upgraded with new features that focus on enhancing the health and well-being of employees, in line with the new standards set out by the International WELL Building Institute.
More than 65 WELL features were incorporated in the space, addressing the five categories: air, light, water and nourishment, mind, and comfort and fitness. An open work space was created to allow for more natural lighting; regular water quality testing is done; there is increased air supply in large boardrooms and in the café; and art work inspired by the natural world is placed throughout the floor – and more.
The WELL Building Standard is the first program of its kind. Focused on integrating specific technologies and design elements into the architecture and operation of a space, it brings the health and well-being of people front and centre.
Receiving WELL v1 Gold certification reaffirms TD's belief that "people are our most important asset," said Martha MacInnis, Design Director, Enterprise Real Estate, TD Bank Group.
