SWANA Announces 2018 Technical Division Award Winners
The awards were presented at the opening ceremony of SWANApalooza in Denver
The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) announced the winners of its 2018 Technical Division Awards at the opening ceremony of SWANApalooza in Denver on Tuesday, March 6.
Marc Rogoff received the Distinguished Individual Achievement Award (DIAA) from the Collection and Transfer division, and Tom Bilgri received the DIAA in the Landfill Gas and Biogas division.
The Landfill Gas and Biogas division also announced two inductees, Jim Bier and David Penoyer of Republic Services, into its Hall of Flame.
The Hall of Flame originated as a way to formally acknowledge and recognize those who have made a significant contribution to the landfill gas industry. Less prestigious than the DIAA, induction into the Hall of Flame is not as rigorous. In place of the tangible award and formal induction that accompany the DIAA, induction into the Hall of Flame is done through a formal announcement of a selected group of inductees and includes providing a signed certificate of achievement for each inductee. In 2014, the Landfill Gas and Biogas Technical Division decided to induct new members every three years.
Finally, the Landfill Gas Biogas division recognized the career of Tudor Williams, who passed away in 2016, with the 2018 Eternal Flame Award.
