Supporting our Troops and Hiring our Veterans: An AT&T Tradition

By Debbie Storey, SVP Talent Development & Chief Diversity Officer, AT&T

Today we donated $50,000 to both the Wounded Warrior Project and the USO.  These donations will help soldiers on active duty and veterans during the holidays provide much-needed support to those who have been wounded in battle.

AT&T supports organizations like these because they make a big difference in the lives of those who’ve selflessly served our country. But we don’t stop there. We’re also deeply committed to helping veterans find jobs – especially AT&T jobs!

We learned long ago that bringing veterans into our workforce is a win-win. Their diversity in backgrounds and skills aligns well with our strategy and values. They bring real-world experiences, extensive knowledge and the leadership skills that make a business successful.

It’s no secret the military sets the bar on leveraging diversity and inclusion to produce desired outcomes, and we benefit by tapping into this incredible talent pool in several ways:

While AT&T has supported the military throughout our 136-year history, today we engage the military veteran community in a deeper and wider manner than ever before.

And you can help. Support the USO this holiday season by donating a gift to our troops or welcoming home our heroes. Check out the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that provides unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.

Both will inspire you.

I wish you all happy and safe holidays, and God bless our veterans!
