Stanley Black & Decker and Discovery Education Award $50,000 in Grants and Prizes to “Innovation Generation Contest” Grand Prize Winners

SILVER SPRING, Md., May 22, 2019 /3BL Media/– Stanley Black & Decker and Discovery Education today named two Innovation Generation Contest Grand Prize Winners, including William Davies Middle School of Mays Landing, New Jersey and St. Mary School of Bellevue, Nebraska. Both schools have been awarded $25,000 to create Stanley Black & Decker Makerspaces in their learning communities. The contest is part of the Innovation Generation: Making an Impact program, which aspires to engage 6th – 8th grade educators and students through innovation and the power of making.

Between October 2018 and March 2019, The Innovation Generation Contest invited communities to vote daily for the school of their choice, offering middle schools a chance at winning the tools, services and equipment needed to create state-of-the-art school spaces purposed to foster a spirit of learning, ingenuity and growth. The initiative cultivates student collaboration and Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) learning acceleration in urban, rural, advanced and underserved learning communities.
