Southwest Airlines Conservation in Action Tour Hits Three Cities in One Week
Volunteers complete conservation projects in Manchester, Boston, and Providence

The Southwest Airlines Conservation in Action Tour continues its trek across the United States, celebrating Southwest's 40th Anniversary with 40 service projects nation-wide! Southwest Airlines is teaming up with the Student Conservation Association to make a difference in the communities it serves. A custom-wrapped biodeisel RV is traveling the country and leaving a trail of clean parks and well-maintained trails in its wake.
On Monday, August 8, the tour stopped in Manchester, NH. Teams of volunteers laid gravel on trails and removed weeds from fields at Livingston Park.
The tour stopped in both Boston and Providence on Wednesday, August 10. From beautifying a Boston pier to clearing out a giant trash dump in Providence, volunteers showed a Warrior Spirit and worked hard to get the jobs done.
"After several hours of hard work from our volunteers, it looked like a brand new pit. We took out over 65 bags of trash, 7 wheelbarrows of scrap metal, 2 refrigerators and a dryer," said Andrew Bousquet, one of the Student Conservation Association interns. The volunteers completed work in a matter of hours that would have otherwise taken weeks.
The next stop on the Conservation in Action Tour is New York City on Saturday, August 13.
