Sodexo’s focus on diversity and inclusion has earned recognition on Diversity Best Practice’s inaugural Inclusion Index
GAITHERSBURG, Md., November 9, 2017/3BL Media/ — Sodexo, a food and facilities management company, announced today that it achieved a score of over 70 percent on the inaugural Diversity Best Practices (DBP) Inclusion Index. The Inclusion Index reports data and provides insight into how participating companies met and excelled in three areas: company culture, demographic transparency and best diversity and inclusion practices in recruitment, retention and advancement.
“Diversity and inclusion is foundational to our core values of team spirit and service, and is an imperative part of our business.” said Rohini Anand, Ph.D., Senior Vice President and Global Chief Diversity Officer. “We are honored to be recognized once again for our diversity and inclusion in the workplace and will continue to build a work culture worthy of recognition.”
Sodexo’s corporate culture is rooted in diversity and inclusion as the company employs more than 420,000 employees in 80 countries around the world. This allows the organization to create an inclusive environment for all, with mentorship programs and training initiatives designed specifically to increase diversity and inclusion. Sodexo’s diversity and inclusion efforts are consistently ranked at the top of the industry in national and worldwide indices, including DiversityInc’s Top 50 Companies for Diversity, the Global Diversity List and the Workplace Pride Global Benchmark.
DBP’s Inclusion Index asked companies to provide data in:
- Demographic transparency, as indicated by sharing specific data on the representation of women and people of color in their workforce
- Adherence to best practices for fostering diversity and inclusion in recruitment, retention and advancement
- Best practices in promoting a company culture that values diversity and inclusion
“The DBP Inclusion Index recognized firms that were transparent in sharing their workforce demographics, and that have best-in-class diversity and inclusion policies, procedures and programs in place to ensure a positive, inclusive environment for all employees,” said Deborah Munster, executive director, Diversity Best Practices. “We applaud the Inclusion Index companies for sharing their data and for utilizing D&I best practices to achieve an inclusive company culture.”
Of 51 companies who applied, only 33 were recognized on the Index. Each company was graded with transparency representing 30 percent of the total score and the best practices in recruitment, retention and advancement and company culture sections representing 35 percent each.
