Smithfield Foods Partners With Johnson & Wales University for Ongoing Pork Education Series & Cooking Competitions
Smithfield Foods’ Foodservice team proudly partnered with Johnson & Wales University (JWU) to train and educate the next generation of chefs on the versatility and sustainability of pork this spring.
Through a Smithfield-led seminar at JWU’s Miami, Florida campus, JWU culinary and baking students gained valuable hands-on experience on the various cuts of pork. Smithfield used DURoC pork products during the seminar.
“We thoroughly enjoyed hosting this seminar and were quite impressed with the students’ culinary creations,” said Ed Wayda, senior brand manager for Smithfield Foods. “It is inspiring to see America’s future chefs take such pride in their work and in the food industry, and we are honored to be a part of their education.”
In September, JWU will host Smithfield at its Denver campus and again in Charlotte later this year.
