Seeking Families: Countless Children Are Waiting

Harrisburg, PA July 15, 2013—In today’s unsettled world, the warmth and security of home and family are perhaps more important than ever. So it’s easy to imagine what a real home might mean to a young person who has challenges or who must be removed from his or her family through no fault of their own.

Keystone Human Services, a leader in supporting vulnerable populations since 1972, is seeking families and individuals who are willing to temporarily host a young boy or girl who cannot currently live at home. Families who are willing to open their homes and hearts have the opportunity to change a child’s life.

All host and foster families receive training and 24/7 support from Keystone’s experts, as well as compensation for their efforts. While an income is provided, many families insist their greatest reward comes from watching a child turn a critical corner in his or her life.

Participating families must be able to provide a private bedroom, as well as meals and practical support for the child’s participation in school, doctor’s appointments, community activities, etc. Families can live in Dauphin, Cumberland, Lancaster, or York County and must also show proof of financial viability apart from the income provided through this program. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, Keystone Human Services does not discriminate in its hiring practices. Families of all backgrounds and make-up are welcome to apply.

Host family arrangements are typically designed for a specified period of time, but the dividends often last a lifetime. Countless children in crisis are patiently waiting for a warm refuge and a kind smile to change their life. By changing a child’s life, families have been delighted to discover the spirit that is strengthened most is their own.
