SCS Global Services Named Sustainability Leadership Award Winner
EMERYVILLE, Calif., October 17, 2017 /3BL Media/ - SCS Global Services (SCS) is pleased to announce that it has been recognized as one of five winners of this year’s Sustainability Leadership Awards by the Business Intelligence Group. As a leading international third-party certification body and standards developer specializing in sustainability issues, SCS is the first company of its kind to earn this award.
According to the Business Intelligence Group, whose mission is to recognize true talent and superior performance in the business world, the awards “honor those who have made sustainability an integral part of their business practice.” This year’s judging panel included executives from a wide range of backgrounds, including well-known product brand manufacturers, government agencies, communications and journalism organizations, and financial institutions.
“We are proud to recognize SCS Global Services for its outstanding efforts to drive sustainability practice in the marketplace through its use of rigorous science and auditing methods to certify business, NGO and government accomplishments,” said Russ Fordyce, managing director, Business Intelligence Group. “Congratulations!”
Kelsey Hallowell of Reduction in Motion, who served as one of the judges this year, added, "It’s refreshing to hear that SCS Global Services’ certification process is focused on science. What it does is important to provide for others to make informed decisions and guide others throughout the process to improve their sustainability performance. Clearly, SCS has surpassed ‘business as usual’ by focusing on continued improvements to drive a healthier, safer, and sustainable world for a diverse set of sectors."
Based in Emeryville, California, and operating worldwide, SCS Global Services has been an international pioneer and leader in third-party certification and standards development for more than three decades, launching its services long before sustainability became an accepted business paradigm or household word. Its programs span a wide range of industry sectors from natural resource management (forestry, mining, fisheries, and agriculture) to finished materials manufacturing for the green building, household and industrial markets.
“By independently evaluating products, services, and management systems to verify practices that advance sustainable development goals, we help innovators gain credibility for their marketplace claims and gain competitive advantage,” said Linda Brown, SCS co-founder and senior vice president. “These services support companies in satisfying their business customers and stakeholders, and provide a roadmap for companies seeking to improve their sustainability performance over time.”
SCS earned the award alongside four other companies: Air Canada, Humanscale, Mission Linen Supply, and Workiva. The Business Intelligence Group also identified award winners in four additional categories. “We congratulate all of our fellow winners,” said Brown.
