SAP Putting Its Money on Sustainability Strategy

SAP has a new chief sustainability officer: Daniel Schmid. Unlike his predecessor, Peter Graf, Schmid reports to the global head of finance infrastructure, Peter Rasper. Graf reported to the co-CEOs. And Luka Mucic, SAP’s CFO, is now the chief sponsor of SAP’s sustainability strategy on the Executive Board.
“People thought you were either sustainable or profitable,” says Schmid, who has been with SAP since 1997, serving as the head of the sustainability operations team for the last five years. “But to bring it into the finance community, that is the business case—connecting it to financials.”
