Sanofi US Receives the Cristo Rey Award
March 11, 2015 /3BL Media/ - Recently, Sanofi US was honored with the Cristo Rey Award. The Cristo Rey Award is presented to the person or organization that embodies the mission and vision of the Cristo Rey network. The award recognizes the courage and trust that such a mission requires. This award also recognizes those individuals who help to advance the Mission Effectiveness Standards that inspire and guide all Network schools, especially Christ the King Preparatory School in Newark.
Sanofi, one of the school’s prominent partners, has been with the school since 2009. This year, the 50th Christ the King student is participating in the work study program here at Sanofi.
“It is important to give back to the community we serve. We think of that broadly. Our company is committed to promoting diversity and supporting schools and organizations that add to our diversity. We hope that the seeds we plant can inspire students to consider careers in the pharmaceutical industry,” said John Spinnato, Vice President, North America Corporate Social Responsibility and President, Sanofi Foundation.
Christ the King Prep, Newark’s Cristo Rey High School, is part of the national network of more than 28 schools. It offers education to economically disadvantaged students who gain work experience in the corporate world through its work study program. The students work one day a week at partner companies for all four years of high school; the money they earn from their work is applied to their tuition. The work study program provides the students with valuable work opportunities and the guidance from their supervisors advances their appreciation of the value of a college education.
