Sanofi US Celebrates National Employee Wellness Month with Multiple Initiatives
(3BL Media) Bridgewater, NJ – June 5, 2012 – Sanofi (EURONEXT : SAN and NYSE : SNY) Sanofi US is commemorating National Employee Wellness Month (NEWM) for the second consecutive year by promoting activities that foster successful prevention habits and good health in sites across the US.
“Prevention and wellness is a top priority for Sanofi globally and a key platform for our businesses in North America,” said Anne Whitaker, President of North America Pharmaceuticals. “The increase in chronic diseases is taking an immense toll on our society. Our own employees are not immune from this trend, which is why we’re focusing on them at the same time that we develop prevention and wellness solutions for patients and communities. In the past year alone, Sanofi has made great strides in the efforts to help our employees and their families take better care of their health with both prevention resources and treatments.”
Under the umbrella of Health in Action, an initiative that encompasses all the Sanofi US health and wellness efforts for employees, Sanofi sites across the country will facilitate a series of lectures, walking programs, health fairs and seminars to mark NEWM. Participating sites include Sanofi US Headquarters in Bridgewater, NJ; Sanofi Pasteur’s U.S. facility in Swiftwater, Pa.; Genzyme’s headquarters in Cambridge, MA; and Merial, the company’s animal health business, in Duluth, GA. While jump-starting in June, the Health in Action program will be an ongoing effort to promote a culture of healthy habits, prevention and wellness.
Other programs available to Sanofi employees include: onsite fitness centers and/or exercise programs, tobacco-free work sites, smoking cessation programs, ongoing informational events and webinars, walking and bike clubs, and screening and vaccination programs. Ultimately, Sanofi hopes to serve as a role model for other organizations who pride themselves in shepherding health and wellness internally and in their communities.
