Sanofi: Sharing Our Time and Talents to Give All Children a Healthy Start
This post was authored by Greg Irace, Senior Vice President, Global Services, Sanofi
Without early diagnosis of poor eye sight, proper treatment of ear infections or appropriately addressing many other childhood ailments, kids can’t reach their full potential. That is why Sanofi has continued to partner closely with Children’s Health Fund (CHF), an organization that tirelessly works to ensure medically underserved children in the U.S. get access to the quality healthcare they deserve, right in the neighborhoods where they live.
In my last Speaking of Sanofi post, I shared a few examples of how Sanofi is leading CHF’s Corporate Council to encourage companies across industries to support CHF’s mission. In addition to financial support, Council members are committed to engaging their employees in the effort by providing opportunities to share their time and talents with CHF.
Snapshots of Sanofi’s Support
Inspired by CHF’s perseverance and progress in creating healthier lives for children, hundreds of Sanofi colleagues across the U.S. have already offered their support to CHF in diverse ways. Following are just a few examples.
The Sanofi Foundation for North America supports six CHF mobile medical units, enabling 11,000 vulnerable and homeless children to receive comprehensive, compassionate medical care each year. Here, colleagues volunteered at a Detroit community event where more than 1,000 kids learned about good health and a new CHF mobile medical clinic was unveiled – the kids lovingly nicknamed her “Clara.”
Our North America Corporate Social Responsibility team continuously creates opportunities for Sanofi employees to volunteer for CHF, such as painting apartments for CHF patients and organizing a book drive that collected more than 2,000 children’s books for distribution during mobile medical unit visits.
The Healthy Kids Challenge – Sanofi employees piloted a new CHF grassroots outreach approach, raising a total of $37,964.40 for CHF! And, thanks to pilot participant feedback, CHF is planning to roll out the Challenge to more corporations this year.
Disaster Relief Care Kits – Sanofi US employees created over 500 “Coping Care Kits” for CHF’s use in NJ relief efforts. The kits are specially designed for children as a therapeutic tool to assist in the maintenance of positive and sound mental health following the disrupted living conditions that many faced post-Super storm Sandy.
As we continue to deepen our partnership with CHF and build on the strengths of the Corporate Council, I look forward to sharing more stories of our employees in action. More important, I look forward to sharing stories of children whose lives are being changed for the better through access to high-quality healthcare.
