Safeway Wins Award for Support of the Texas Department of Aging and Disabilities

Randalls/Tom Thumb is honored to receive the 2014 Vision Partner Award from the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS).

We’ve supported the DADS Age Well/Live Well program since 2008. Some examples of the initiatives we support through volunteers, donations and/or sponsorship are:

• Senior Games, a fun-filled event where seniors have the opportunity to participate in games and other activities that encourage exercise
• Artistic Visions, an exhibition which features art created by residents of state-supported living centers and nursing homes or who participated in the Austin Parks and Recreation senior
• Producing and distributing resource sheets in our Pharmacies each year in May for Older Americans Month, providing information and resources for older Texans and their caregivers
• Vision Awards, an annual ceremony that recognizes groups and individuals who provide outstanding volunteer services that improve the lives of older adults and people with disabilities

Special Olympian and Courtesy Clerk at our Ben White Boulevard, Austin, Texas store, Buddy Ray Ingram (left) is a regular volunteer at the Vision Awards event. He greets people and serves them refreshments donated by Randalls. He is often joined by his Store Director, Chris Farley (right).
