Key highlights for 2012 were:
• Won the 2012 Online Retail Industry Award for best multi channel retailer
• Voted the Sustainable Retailer of the Year by BRW AMP Shopping Centres Australian Retailer of the Year Awards 2012
• Embedding sustainable sourcing policies for palm oil, timber and paper, and seafood
• AU$36.6m contributed to the community
• 16.5% reduction in carbon emissions, compared to business-as-usual projections
• 25.6% reduction in carbon emissions per carton delivered by Woolworths-owned trucks, compared to 2007
• 8,391 tonnes of food waste and 204,817 tonnes of recyclable material diverted from landfill
• 8.9% reduction in Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate
• Provided training to more than 1 million participants.
The Report was compiled using the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3.1 Guidelines, underwent independent assurance by Net Balance Management Group, again achieving an A+ rating.
