Qurate Retail Group Celebrates Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, Qurate Retail Group is using its production resources, television broadcasts and digital platforms to elevate AAPI-owned businesses and is hosting events for team members to celebrate the history, contributions and achievements of the APPI community. Here’s a closer look:
- Small Business Spotlight: More than a dozen AAPI-owned businesses – spanning beauty, home décor, electronics, kitchen/culinary and wellness – have been selected to participate during May in Qurate Retail Group’s Small Business Spotlight, which supports entrepreneurs from underrepresented groups with national on-air and digital exposure, along with various other in-kind services. Five will share their brand stories on-air on QVC and HSN at various times throughout the month, while an additional nine will appear on QVC2 in a one-hour special at 3 p.m. ET on May 15. In addition, qualifying businesses have the opportunity to be featured in a dedicated, month-long event on Zulily. Learn more about this month’s participating businesses on QVC.com and HSN.com. Qurate Retail Group offers small businesses unmatched opportunities for growth and exposure. The company is the largest player in vCommerce, which includes video-driven shopping across linear TV, ecommerce sites, digital streaming and social platforms. In the U.S. alone, the company’s vCommerce brands, QVC and HSN, reach a combined total of 92 million homes via five television networks and reach millions more via multiple streaming services, social pages, mobile apps and websites. In the online retail space, Zulily serves 4.6 million customers a year.
- Team Member Events: Qurate Retail Group’s AAPI team member resource group — REACH (Representation & Equity by Advocating the AAPI Community, with Hope for Humanity) – is offering two team members events in May:
- A discussion on AAPI influence on fashion with distinguished designer Isaac Mizrahi, and
- A food tasting, showcasing the diverse culinary traditions of Asia through favorite family recipes and other dishes.
“Our AAPI Heritage Month initiatives underscore Qurate Retail Group’s steadfast, year-round commitment to elevating underrepresented communities across our brands and educating our teams on the rich histories of our many stakeholder groups,” said Virginia Nguyen, Chief Diversity Officer at Qurate Retail Group. “As a retailer that reaches hundreds of millions of homes worldwide, it’s an honor to use our platforms to celebrate the achievements and contributions of our team members, customers, business partners and neighbors who are members of the AAPI community.”
