Quest for Health Equity Supports Kansas City Charity Working to Support Homeless Youth

Serve the World Charities, Inc. (STW), which recently received a grant from Quest Diagnostics Incorporated, hosted its first annual “Friendraiser” event. STW held the event to raise awareness and funding to support their mission to empower families in South Kansas City to find affordable, dignified, and permanent housing, while helping to distribute food and providing safe and fun community events for all. Through their Impact Center Schools Program, they work to place homeless families in homes of their own and implement preventive measures so that other families do not fall into homelessness.

Quest Diagnostics provided a grant, as part of the Quest for Health Equity (Q4HE) initiative, to help STW broaden their Impact Center Schools Program to expand initial outreach from 25 to now serving 50 families a year so that no child would be left wondering where they will sleep at night. Q4HE, a $100+ million initiative of Quest Diagnostics (NYSE: DGX) and the Quest Diagnostics Foundation, provides donated testing services, education programs, and funding to support initiatives aimed at eliminating healthcare disparities that impact underserved communities across the US.

Impact Center Schools is a 3-phase program that takes families from being homeless to being self-sufficient and empowered to take control of their future. Each phase is carefully thought out to equip families to create a better future for themselves, while gaining stability in life through dignified, affordable, long-term housing. The goal of this program is to have no homeless students in the Center School District by the year 2025.
