Quality State Oil Breaks Fundraising Record to Help Those with Neuromuscular Diseases
Local CITGO Marketer Raises More Than $32,000 for Muscular Dystrophy Association
Sheboygan, Wis., April 11, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Local CITGO Marketer Quality State Oil and CITGO Petroleum Corporation raised more than $32,000 to support the local Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) chapter during this year’s Q Mart Shamrocks Against Dystrophy campaign. From Feb. 1 through March 17, customers visited 18 participating Q Mart stations in the Sheboygan area to purchase paper shamrocks which were posted around the store as a sign of their commitment to the cause. The proceeds from the shamrocks will support programs for local families living with neuromuscular diseases.
“There have been so many wonderful efforts from customers who purchased the shamrocks. We are so thankful for the loyal customers who visited our Q Mart stores throughout the campaign and donated to this very worthy cause,” said Scott Stangel, wholesale marketing manager at Quality State Oil. “It is exciting to see the community get involved. We feel honored to call them our neighbors. We know that as we continue to support this organization each year, we will continue to raise money for those who truly need it.”
Among the top fundraisers this year were the Q Mart stores on Geele Ave. in Sheboygan and on Broadway St. in Sheboygan Falls, whose combined efforts raised more than $16,000 in support of the campaign. During the promotion, local community members had the opportunity to meet local MDA Ambassadors Myranda Gereau and Allison Naze and Miss Wisconsin 2013 Paula Mae Kuiper who visited three Q Mart locations on Feb. 22 to show their support for those battling neuromuscular diseases and raise awareness for the shamrock campaign.
“We are so grateful for organizations like Quality State Oil, who make it a priority each year to raise money for those affected by neuromuscular diseases,” said Dawn Ver Haagh, executive director of MDA’s Green Bay chapter. “The proceeds raised will send many children in the area to our MDA summer camp, and we cannot thank Q Mart, Quality State and CITGO enough for their continued efforts.”
The funds raised from the Q Mart Shamrocks Against Dystrophy campaign will be spent in the community where they were raised to support MDA research and physical therapy consultations and send local children to the MDA summer camp. MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat muscular dystrophy through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services and far-reaching professional and public health education.
