PYXERA Global will Join the Net Impact Conference to Speak on Solvable Problems, Post-Harvest Loss, and Global Goals
Deirdre White and Laura Asiala of PYXERA Global will Address Global Challenges at Net Impact 2016
WASHINGTON, D.C., November 3, 2016 /3BL Media/ – Deirdre White, CEO, PYXERA Global and Laura Asiala, Vice President, Public Affairs will both speak this year’s Net Impact Conference, captioned Shape Your Future and The World. Ms. White will address post-harvest loss, while Ms. Asiala explore the role of the private sector in addressing the Global Goals.
We're Still Wasting: A Systems Approach to Solving Food Waste
“Roughly 95 percent of all spending on food security is focused on improving cultivation and enhancing productivity to improve farmers’ capacity to grow and harvest more,” wrote Ms. White in an article on the Global Engagement Forum: Online. “Yet, food insecurity can be significantly reduced if we preserve the vast amount of food lost between the time of harvest and when it hits the market. If such high rates of post-harvest loss persist, increased production will only continue to be eroded by this underlying problem.”
The food waste and loss session featuring Ms. White is titled, We're Still Wasting: A Systems Approach to Solving Food Waste. Right now, up to 40 percent of food produced globally is never consumed. In this interactive session, speakers will show how food loss and waste are preventable. Ms. White will speak alongside Kathleen Cacciola, Senior Director, Environmental Sustainability, Aramark, Evan Lutz, CEO, Hungry Harvest, and Steven Finn, Affiliated Faculty, Organizational Dynamics, Global Innovation for Sustainability, University of Pennsylvania and Response Ecology, Inc.
UN Sustainable Development Goals: The Role of the Private Sector
Ms. Asiala will moderate the panel titled, UN Sustainable Development Goals: The Role of the Private Sector. The panel will outline the role companies can play in addressing the SDGs and how to get involved. For example, by aligning business strategy with the Goals, companies have a wide range of opportunities to engage.
“The Sustainable Development Goals—also known as the Global Goals—represent the greatest needs around the world, which smart business professionals and their companies recognize as opportunities. There is no single individual, organization, or sector, however, that has ‘the’ answer, which is why collaboration is critical to addressing and ultimately solving these challenges sustainably.”
