Tri-Sector Leaders Convene to Advance the Sustainable Development Goals Nov. 10-12
WASHINGTON, August 18, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Leaders and innovators will come together at The Global Engagement Forum, Nov. 10-12 in Washington, DC, to discuss how cross-sector collaboration and partnership can effectively and sustainably enhance lives and livelihoods around the world. PYXERA Global is convening the forum as a means to enable conversations within the framework created by the Global Goals for Sustainable Development, also known as the “SDGs”. The 17 Goals, which expand on the 8 Millennium Development Goals that will sunset in 2015, are ambitious targets, designed to generate momentum to ensure healthy, prosperous lives for all.
“The goals as currently stated are heady ones, envisioning a 2030 world with no poverty, no inequality, nor injustice where, on a sustainably-maintained planet, no man, woman or child is hungry, ill, uneducated, or unemployed,” said Deirdre White, the CEO of PYXERA Global, in a recent comment in New Global Citizen magazine. “My inner idealist embraces this glorious vision, but I cannot deny my practical nature: there is a lot of work to be done and a 15-year timeline is short.”
The Global Engagement Forum will be held just six weeks after the United Nations ratifies the SDGs. The Forum is strategically focused on 10 of the 17 Goals where PYXERA Global believes strategic partnerships amongst the public, private and social sectors can have the greatest impact.
“We believe in this better world, we want to do something to move the needle on these key challenges. We have to narrow it down to the space where we think we can have an impact,” said White in a webcast earlier this year that provided an overview of what to expect in 2015.
The Forum will convene leaders from business, government, academia, and nonprofits to discuss how collaboration, innovation, and partnership can effectively advance this ambitious agenda. The Forum is sponsored by the Dow Chemical Company, SAP, EY, BD, Medtronic, JPMC, Intel, PepsiCo, GSK, and the Global Health Fellows Program II.
On Nov. 12, PYXERA Global hosts the Global Engagement Broadcast, which will amplify key lessons on tri-sector partnership that advance a global development agenda for a global audience. The Broadcast will be streaming live on Nov.12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET. A corresponding Twitter Chat will engage the global audience at #SDGforum.
This year also marks PYXERA Global’s 25th anniversary. A dinner celebration on the evening of Nov.12 will mark the occasion.
