PepsiCo donates 1 million yuan to schools for migrant workers' children
Recent scandals surrounding some of China's charity organizations haven't seemed to sway PepsiCo's pledge of extending help to the disadvantaged groups of the country.
The world's leading food and beverage company committed 1 million yuan ($157,579.57) Tuesday, in partnership with China's Red Cross Society, to fund scholarships and new facilities at 10 schools across the country.
About 10,000 kids from migrant workers' families and rural areas are expected to benefit from the "Better Tomorrow" and "PepsiCo Library program."
"We have our own requests for our partners in launching charity programs," Tim Minges, chairman of PepsiCo GCR, said at the donation ceremony at Lihua School in Liyuan Town in the suburbs of Beijing Tuesday. "We stay and see things through. We need to see the real consequence, the school, the students and the books.
