(3BL Media) September 21, 2012 - Pearson plc has come top in the 2012 Corporate Renewable Energy Index (CREX) produced by Bloomberg New Energy Finance. We were one of 35 global companies to achieve a maximum score of 100 percent and Pearson was also named as a top-ranked global company in the customer services sector alongside US companies Kohl's and Whole Foods Market.   Bloomberg approached 1,775 global companies to participate in the Corporate Renewable Energy Index of which nearly 400 had sufficient information available to be included in the rankings.   "Pearson achieved its commitment to become climate neutral in 2009 and we have maintained that ever since," said Peter Hughes, Head of corporate responsibility. "Investment in renewable energy is a cornerstone of that commitment as increasingly our customers and employees expect us to change our energy mix and reward us for our leading programmes to invest and encourage wind and solar energy generation."   Pearson is one of only three UK-headquartered companies to achieve a maximum score of 100 percent.  Read the full report at Bloomberg New Energy Finance.    Learn more about Pearson's work to lesson our environmental footprint in our Impact on Society report.     About the CREX
