Opportunity for Transformation, Innovation, and Diversity: Thoughts on the Amgen Scholars Program

For Cammi Valdez, undergraduate research was a pivotal moment in her life. It was her first exposure to thinking critically about a single question and the first time she could delve into thinking about creating something novel. Now program manager for the Harvard University Amgen Scholars Program, Valdez loves seeing that transformation occur for students participating in the undergraduate research experience.

Valdez was just one member of the Amgen Scholars Program leadership team to weigh in on what they love most about the summer program. Candace Rypisi (California Institute of Technology), Sophie Goyard (Insitut Pasteur), Jonas Sundbäck (Karolinska Institutet), and Ichiro Sakuma (University of Tokyo) also share their thoughts – along with participants Cassandra Baker (University of Houston/Washington University), Ester Álvarez-Benedicto (University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras/University of California, Berkeley), and Corshai Williams (Virginia Union University/MIT) – in this new video.
