Northern Trust on the Dow Jones Sustainable Index for Ninth Year in a Row
Northern Trust has maintained its inclusion on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) – North American Index for the ninth consecutive year.
Since its pioneering launch in 1999, the DJSI has achieved iconic status as the global standard for measuring and advancing corporate ESG practices. It was the first global index to track the largest and leading sustainability-driven publicly listed companies. The SAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) is an annual evaluation of companies’ sustainability practices. Each year over 4700 companies around the world are assessed. The CSA focuses on criteria that are both industry-specific and financially material. The CSA now produces approximately 1,000 data points per company, and is the basis for the determination of DJSI inclusion.
DJSI is an integrated assessment of economic, environmental and social criteria with a strong focus on long-term shareholder value. The assessment uses rules-based methodology and use of primary research. The focus is on best-in-class companies with assurance of the assessment process provide by Deloitte.
