New Laureus Sport for Good Project
"It's all about being there" in Salzburg
Ski-jump star and Laureus Sport for Good ambassador Thomas Morgenstern mingled among the teams on site in order to play soccer with the girls. "Looking back on my childhood and on my career, I know what great influence sports had - and in part still has - on my development. As Laureus Sport for Good ambassador I would like to work towards enabling as many kids as possible to have the same positive experiences", explained the former ski-jump Olympic champion.
Regular exercise helps children and youth to cope with their problems in order to achieve their desired goals. The leitmotifs of the "kick mit" project are: integration and recognition of active participation. What is important here is - first and foremost - the enabling and the belief in a goal.
The "kick mit" project is launching a new approach and gives girls over the age of 15 who like playing soccer the chance to train as co-exercise leader. The girls are assigned more responsibility in connection with the social aspects of the sport in simple modular steps, and can thus build up their self-confidence. The new Laureus project is sponsored by the Sport for Good Foundation Austria. The Social Profit Organization "akzente" is helping with the implementation of "kick mit" at the Salzburg location.
