New Holland Agriculture and the World's First Production Methane Powered Tractor

New Holland Agriculture, a global agricultural brand of CNH Industrial, is recognized as a leading proponent of sustainable agriculture. The New Holland T6 Methane Power tractor is the world’s first 100% methane powered production tractor, key to on-farm CO₂ reduction without compromising performance. When powered by Biomethane, this tractor helps complete the virtuous cycle fundamental to the Energy Independent Farm^SM concept – which sees farmers providing for all of their own energy needs. Refilling directly from the gas grid network or at specific Biomass stations, including those on-farm, New Holland delivers an eco-friendly solution for farmers the world over.

In order to bring the T6 Methane Power tractor to production, New Holland, together with consortium partners Eminox Ltd. and Zircotec Group received support and funding from the Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC). The APC’s goal is to make the UK a Centre of Excellence for the research, development and production of low carbon propulsion technology, and it achieves this by being a joint venture between the UK Government and the automotive industry. This support, enabled the Brand to prepare for commercial, full-scale manufacture of this ground-breaking machine, while demand at the initial point of investment was still considered niche.
