NAEM to Offer Strategies for Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management

WASHINGTON, May 20, 2013 /3BL Media/ - On July 17-18, NAEM will host its annual Compliance Excellence conference in Minneapolis to showcase best practices for strategic environmental program management, risk reduction and auditing.

With regulatory requirements on the rise at all levels of government, Executive Director Carol Singer Neuvelt said corporate environment, health and safety (EHS) leaders need strategies to address this increased scrutiny. 

“These are issues that our members deal with every day, and they need the opportunity to engage with their peers – both to ask and answer questions – and sometimes just to share a story,” she said.

Operating within a global supply chain has made compliance management more challenging than ever before, she added.  

 “With each new geographic location, the number of regulations a company has to track and manage multiplies,” Ms. Neuvelt said. “It’s the responsibility of the EHS function to ensure safe and environmentally sound practices across the company and across the globe.”

The program was developed with input from NAEM members to address these issues, according to NAEM Program Director Mike Mahanna. It features case studies and interactive roundtable discussions on prioritizing risks and ensuring regulatory compliance from afar.

Mr. Mahanna said the dynamic sessions are intended to multiply the opportunities for information-sharing.

“We are building in more time for attendee discussions,” he said. “As with any NAEM event, there is a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience in the seats.”
