Mountain Equipment Co-Op donates 1% of their annual gross sales to do good for Canada. In 2007, this company was the first major retailer in Canada to join 1% For The Planet, an alliance of businesses that believe in providing financial support to environmental initiatives.

Since 1987 MEC has given in excess of $17 million to Canadian conservation projects through their grant programs. Now they are committed to donating a full 1% of their annual gross sales to Canadian causes.

Their goal has always been to source lower impact materials such as organically grown cotton and provide quality gear and excellent value. In every way they can, MEC is constantly minimizing their environmental impact.
