Up for More Good? JetBlue for Good Month Kicks Off with Grant Contest for Nonprofit Organizations
Customers can nominate a charity of their choice, now through November 5, for a chance to help that nonprofit receive $25,000 from JetBlue
NEW YORK, November 1, 2018 /3BL Media/ – JetBlue (Nasdaq: JBLU) today announced it is up to even more good this November, JetBlue For Good Month. To kick-off this month of kindness and good deeds, JetBlue has launched the JetBlue For Good Grant contest to provide much-needed funds for nonprofits to continue their work helping others within their local communities.
Now through November 5, customers in the U.S. and Puerto Rico are invited to nominate their favorite nonprofit organizations at https://jetblueforgoodgrants.com for a chance to help that charity receive $25,000 from JetBlue*. Three charities will receive a $25,000 grant from JetBlue – each grant representing one of the three corporate social responsibility pillars the airline supports throughout the year: youth and education, the community, and the environment. The winners will be announced on World Kindness Day, Tuesday, November 13.
The JetBlue For Good Grant contest builds on the airline’s Destination Good trip that will fly a plane full of winning do-gooders to a mystery location for a four-day volunteer experience departing on Giving Tuesday, November 27.
“November is an exciting month-long celebration of service, kindness and good deeds for JetBlue,” said Icema Gibbs, director corporate social responsibility, JetBlue. “We believe doing good can happen anywhere and anytime – in the air, on the ground, or even in your local community. JetBlue For Good grants are a way for us to continue to spread good in our local communities, while empowering both our customers and crewmembers to do the same.”
How It Works
- Entrants in the U.S. and Puerto Rico can fill out a short application at https://jetblueforgoodgrants.com and share information about their favorite charity by uploading a short personal video, one-minute or less, about why this nonprofit organization should be considered for the chance. Applications will be accepted until November 5, 2018.
- Grant recipients must meet all requirements set forth in the rules, including service in an existing JetBlue city and support of one of JetBlue For Good’s three core pillars: youth and education, community, and the environment.
- Three charities will be selected as winners, each representing one of JetBlue For Good’s pillars. Winners will be notified of their eligibility on World Kindness Day -- Tuesday, November 13.
The JetBlue For Good Grants and the Destination Good trip are both part of the latest efforts of JetBlue For Good, the airlines platform for social impact and corporate responsibility. Giving back is part of JetBlue’s DNA and is core to its mission of inspiring humanity. Centered around volunteerism and service, JetBlue For Good focuses on the areas that are most important to the airline’s customers and crewmembers – Community, Youth/Education and the Environment.
JetBlue’s core programs and partnerships directly impact the areas where its customers and crewmembers live and work by enhancing education and providing access to those that are traditionally underserved. Signature programs include the award-winning Soar with Reading initiative which has provided more than $3 million worth of books to kids who need them most; Blue Horizons For Autism which helps introduce air travel in a realistic environment to families and children affected by autism; and Swing for Good has raised more than $6.1 million to date for education and youth focused non-profits.
