More Cybersecurity Awareness may Lead to Lower Contract Spending

White House Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) Gregory Touhill’s cybersecurity plan, revealed Oct. 11 in Washington, D.C., may slow down spending on contracts that use technology to protect networks and data.
Touhill, a retired Air Force brigadier general who became the first CISO on Sept. 8, said at the Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association (AFCEA) Cyber Summit that he’s focused on hiring cybersecurity personnel and educating workers on cybersecurity best practices.
He also wants to conduct cost-benefit analyses before making investments in cybersecurity.
