Mid-Year Conference Update: Where You’ll Find Us
2017 is well upon us, and VolunteerMatch has been on the move!
With exciting new visions for the coming year, we’re looking forward to being where you are and to share our plans with you! That’s why we’re telling you about a few events where we can meet you, hear how things are going in your world, and have a conversation about how we might be able to help you achieve your program goals.
With a basic mission of connecting good people to good causes, VolunteerMatch is all about volunteering and helping others easily connect to their passions. We look forward to connecting with you at a conference this year!
The following is a small snapshot of where we’ve popped up so far, and where we will be.
Where We’ve Been
2017 Nonprofit Technology Conference — March 23-25, Washington D.C.
Hosted by the Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN), the Nonprofit Technology Conference (NTC) is one of the most innovative conferences in the space. This year, our marketing associate Basil Sadiq attended, and our senior manager of education and training Jennifer Bennett presented on the topic “Are You Techno-Stuck? How to Engage Pro Bono Volunteers to Get the Expertise You Need”.
At its core, this event brings good people doing good things through tech to the forefront. Staffed by members of NTEN, the conference convenes IT professional together on-site to cater to your every tech needs, alongside bloggers, CSR professionals, software specialists, and more who are attending.Schedule printouts are unnecessary at an event like this as the NTC mobile app houses all of your sessions and a conference map in one place.
CSRWorks Annual Industry Summit — April 11-13, Plano, TX
Our vice president of sales and marketing, Scott Lohmann, attended this year’s event, hosted by VolunteerMatch’s partner YourCause, at beautiful Oak Point Nature Reserve in Plano, Texas. With over 100 attendees, this was the perfect setting to have vibrant conversations about trends in the field of corporate social responsibility (CSR), as well as challenges, successes, and new ideas. Just some of the topics that were addressed include: skills-based volunteering, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and volunteering by demand.
Scott joined Ann Magee, director of sales and business development at YourCause, as well as the rest of the stellar leadership from YourCause at the event. It was informative, fun, and a great learning experience for all.
Where We’re Headed
National Conference on Volunteering and Service — June 19-21, Seattle, WA
The Points of Light Institute’s Annual Volunteering Conference is the largest held in the U.S. (and maybe the world!) and has been a real go-to event for more than 25 years. This year’s event will be held in Seattle and promises to be as exceptional as ever. With more than 3,500 nonprofit, government, business, and civic leaders coming together to gain and share knowledge, resources, and connections, this conference will continue to help shape the future of volunteerism in all its many forms.
VolunteerMatch will be there in full force with four attendees: Scott Lohmann, vice president of sales and marketing; Jennifer Bennett, senior manager, training and education (who will be managing a session); Alvaro Tijero, sales director, and Sarah Hayes, consultant and sales director. (As a matter of note, this will be Sarah’s 25th time to attend this conference in a row — an occasion to be marked!)
Look for us later in the year at the following conferences:
Strategy and Innovation World Forum — September 21-22, San Francisco, CA
BSR Conference — October 24-26, Huntington Beach, CA
U.S. Chamber of Commerce Corporate Citizenship Conference — Nov 15-16, Washington D.C.
