MGM Resorts International’s CSR Council and Employee Resource Groups Honored for Outstanding Contributions
Ranked 16th on Nation’s Top 25 Employee Resource Groups and Diversity Councils List
December 22, 2014 /3BL Media/ - MGM Resorts International’s (NYSE: MGM) Joint Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Council and its 16 Employee Resources Groups have been presented the Association of Diversity Councils’ 2014 ERG & Council Honors Award™ .
This is the fourth year in a row that the company has received this honor, which recognizes the outstanding contributions and achievements of the nation’s top 25 ERGs and diversity councils. MGM Resorts is the only hospitality company to earn this year’s award, joining companies such as Comcast Corporation, General Motors and FedEx in receiving the honor. This year, the company’s Joint CSR Council and its employee resource groups (ERGs) were ranked 16th in the nation. In previous years, the Diversity Councils of MGM Grand Hotel and Casino and Bellagio Resort and Casino were honored. The two resorts are part of MGM Resorts International’s portfolio.
“This is confirmation that our focus on internal human capital initiatives and external community involvement is making a difference,” said Phyllis A. James, MGM Resorts’ Executive Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer. “We regard the Association of Diversity Councils as a measuring stick for best diversity and inclusion practices. This honor confirms that we are on the right track in CSR.”
Council applications were evaluated on contributions and achievements in four categories: Demonstrated Council Results; Demonstrated Management Commitment; Measurement and Accountability; and Communication and Education.
Founded originally in 2012 as the Diversity and Community Council, the Joint CSR Council was renamed in 2014 to reflect its inclusion of Sustainability as an additional focus. The Joint CSR Council serves MGM Resorts International’s 62,000 employees by executing the company’s identified goals in diversity, inclusion, philanthropy, community giving, volunteerism and sustainability. The Council oversees the individual councils representing each company property, while also supporting the company’s 16 Employee Resource Groups.
Each individual property council promotes the company’s core values of integrity, teamwork and excellence, culture of inclusion and engagement, superior guest service, and corporate responsibility initiatives, including diversity, philanthropy and environmental sustainability.
MGM Resorts’ ERGs offer employees a forum to regularly meet with their peers for mutual support and career growth. The groups, which are attended voluntarily, provide networking opportunities, exposure to company leaders, accomplished guest speakers and role models, professional development training and more.
