MetLife Named One of America's Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces by Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption
November 14, 2014 /3BL Media/ - For the seventh consecutive year, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption has named MetLife to its 2014 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces List. MetLife is among the 100 companies in the U.S. recognized for its employee adoption benefits.
“As someone who has personally benefitted from MetLife’s adoption policies, it’s very exciting to see the company recognized as one of the best workplaces for adoptive parents,” said Andrew Stocker, MetLife’s head of distribution, Global Employee Benefits, who adopted his daughter, Amara, as a new-born in 2013.
“This award not only reflects the financial support and paid leave MetLife gives employees who adopt, but also the ongoing support that the company offers to all working parents through initiatives like Work Life Assist and our Families At MetLife (FAM) employee network," said Stocker, who is also a co-chair of the FAM network.
Since 2008, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption has compiled an annual list of the 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces to honor employers who offer the best adoption benefits in the U.S. The rankings, compiled from an annual survey of U.S. employers, are determined by an analysis of each company’s adoption benefits, including the maximum financial reimbursement and the amount of paid leave provided for employees who adopt.
“We are incredibly excited and grateful to see a growing number of employers across the country provide adoption benefits for employees,” said Rita Soronen, president and CEO of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. “Adoption, and in particular adoption from foster care, is an important and increasingly common path to parenthood; we commend all of the employers across the country who recognize the importance of providing benefits to employees looking to expand their families through adoption.”
