Merck for Mothers lead Dr. Naveen Rao has announced his intent to retire on July 1. Dr. Rao has led Merck for Mothers since its inception, and was responsible for leveraging Merck's scientific and business expertise to accelerate the program's progress. Dr. Mary-Ann Etiebet, currently the executive director, will succeed Dr. Rao.

Actionable research is essential for taking on maternal mortality. Together with our partners, we are pleased to share the first Merck for Mothers Research Compendium. This document includes links to more than 100 publications we have supported over the past six years, including independent evaluations, peer-reviewed articles, program reports and policy briefs.
IN PURSUIT OF UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE: TIME TOTAKE PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Both public and private sector players are paying greater attention to public-private partnerships as a way for developing countries to achieve universal health care and other important Sustainable Development Goals. Yet, as Dr. Rao writes, there is a need for action. Concrete steps within countries to formalize the approach and make public-private collaboration an integral part of national health policies seeking better quality, access and outcomes.
