Mercedes-Benz at the 7th Silvretta eRallye
With a total of nine electric vehicles, Mercedes-Benz in 2016 took part for the seventh time in the Silvretta Rallye. In the end, the Mercedes-Benz B 250 e finished second out of the 26 electric vehicles that had lined up at the start.

In early July, the Silvretta high Alpine Road in Montafon, Austria, was transformed for three days into a showplace for emission-free electric automobiles and classic cars. With nine vehicles among the 26 electric cars, Mercedes-Benz entered the largest fleet, which included a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive, a GLC 350 e 4MATIC, two Mercedes-Benz E 350 e and three Mercedes-Benz B 250 e.
With a length of 244 kilometers, climbs of up to 14.5 percent and a total altitude difference of 11,208 meters, the Rallye presented the drivers and vehicles with a challenging route. While the electric drives were put to the test by an aggregate ascent of 5,291 meters, the 5,917 meters of total descents were used for energy recovery.
When it comes to future mobility, Daimler's policy is to opt not for one single form of drive, but for the coexistence of different technologies. These are optimally tailored to the particular customer needs and vehicle types. "Gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid, battery and hydrogen - each form of drive will continue in future to have its merits and opportunities," says Jürgen Schenk, Head of E-Drive System Integration at Daimler. Daimler will invest over seven billion euros in research and development of green technologies in the next two years. The GLC Coupé 350 e 4MATIC and Mercedes-Benz E 350 e are scheduled to be in the showrooms before the end of 2016.
