maurices Joins the American Cancer Society This October in the Fight to End Breast Cancer
(3BL Media) Duluth, MN - October 4, 2012 - maurices is excited to be teaming up with the American Cancer Society® for October's National Breast Cancer Awareness Month to promote education and early screenings.
On Oct. 1, 2012, maurices will launch the "Shop Pink. Give Hope." campaign, which includes an exclusive line of products consisting of tops, embellished-denim, necklaces and a scarf. The limited-edition items can be purchased online and in 175 stores nationwide, with 50 percent of the sale price supporting breast cancer research and other early detection programs through the American Cancer Society. Supporters can also make small donations at any mauriceslocation nationwide.
"There are so many women who have suffered or know people who have suffered from breast cancer," said Brad Hartmann, Chief Creative Officer at maurices. "So it's very important to increase education and empower women to take charge of their own health. By working to raise $500,000 for the American Cancer Society, that's exactly what we aim to do through the 'Shop Pink. Give Hope.' campaign."
In addition to sales from the exclusive clothing and accessories line, maurices associates will be on the front lines at Making Strides Against Breast Cancer® walks, the American Cancer Society's nationwide series of annual walking events to support their breast cancer programs. These events honor breast cancer survivors; raise awareness and funds that go toward breast cancer research, information and services; and increase access to mammograms for women who need them. Making Strides is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting more than 270 communities to fund the fight.
"We're very excited to have maurices involved with the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign," said Roshini George, national vice president of health promotions for the American Cancer Society. "Their financial contributions and involvement in the events nationwide will help contribute to our goal of raising awareness and creating a world with less breast cancer and more birthdays."
