Mark your calendars– several learning opportunities this fall for climate supporters with eco-events across the country– and world!

Here at Climate Counts, we’re always trying to expand our knowledge of other climate organizations out there and we want our supporters to be armed with the latest knowledge related to climate change, too.   1. Climate Counts is a Community Partner again this year of GoGreen ’11 in Portland, OR for their fourth annual conference on October 4th. The conference will feature a full day of inspiring keynote speakers, dynamic panel-style sessions and high-level networking, with a distinct platform showcasing over 50 statewide business leaders and their sustainable success stories to give business attendees the opportunity to implement best practices learned from the event and create viable partnerships. The University of New Hampshire will offer a Certificate in Corporate Sustainability October 4th-6th. Over the 2-day sessions, individuals and business leaders will build their understanding and awareness of issues and current trends within corporate sustainability, learn how sustainability principles can benefit their organization and gain practical information, resources, contacts, and tools on sustainability to drive change within their own organization.   As part of UNH’s partnership efforts with the Certificate in Corporate Sustainability, there’s a 40% Tuition discount for interested parties to attend the program's upcoming Institute. Other scholarships are available through the generous contribution of corporate sponsors. Please contact Alyson Genovese at info@sustainabilitycertificate.org or 603.834.5585 or Josina Garnham at josina.garnham@unh.edu or 603.862.1998 for questions and more details.    3. Today, September 14^th, the Climate Reality Project will be holding 24 Hours of Reality across the world to bring attention to the scale and impact of the climate crisis. Each hour there will be a climate change presentation broadcasted online in a different time zone starting at 7pm in Mexico City on September 14th and ending in NYC on September 15th. There will be 24 presentations in 24 counties and in 13 languages. Al Gore, Chairman of the Climate Reality Project, will present the final hour at 7pm Eastern Time on Thursday, September 15^th.   Click here to find event locations.   Al Gore describes the project: “24 Hours of Reality will focus the world’s attention on the full truth, scope, scale and impact of the climate crisis. To remove the doubt. Reveal the deniers. And catalyze urgency around an issue that affects every one of us.”   4. 10 Days of Climate Action (Sept. 17^th-26^th) is an initiative of the The Human Impacts Institute to bring together artists, musicians and performers to install climate-inspired public works throughout New York City. Each day of 10 Days of Climate Action will present a climate theme and creatively engage the public in positive action around issues of climate change. The events are FREE and open to the public and representatives from the Human Impacts Institute will be on hand to discuss each piece and provide tools for taking local action on curbing climate change.   Partners of the project include Climate Week NYC, 350.org, the NYC Climate Coalition, the Climate Reality Project, White Tops, and numerous NYC artists.
