Marina Bay Sands Opens Its Doors to Students for an Insider Look at an Integrated Resort
Marina Bay Sands Team Members brought 40 children from the Dyslexia Association of Singapore and Students Care Service on a fun-filled hospitality career workshop in support of the annual AmCham Corporate Community Day in November. Organized by The American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (AmCham) and the U.S. Embassy, it is a special day that encourages all American organizations in Singapore and its employees to build stronger ties with Singapore through local community work.
The children participated in cupcake decoration under the guidance of the pastry team at the property and also had a first-hand look into the Wardrobe Department during a behind-the-scenes Heart of House tour. The Sands SkyPark Team Members rounded off the day on a high note with sharing stories about their careers and brought the participants up to the Sands SkyPark Observation Deck to enjoy panoramic views of the Singapore skyline.
Marina Bay Sands also hosted two charities, a social enterprise and a culinary school, for a day while visiting the properties warehouse. Organized by Sands for Singapore and the Stewarding team, the staff from Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN), Metta School, Bizlink Centre and At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy had the exclusive chance to choose from a large pool of glassware, pots, cutlery and more from the Food and Beverage department. The items will benefit the organizations in reducing costs and supplement training programs offered to students.
These activities are some of the many ways Sands for Singapore aims to inspire and introduce local school students to a career in hospitality at an Integrated Resort. Over 300 students have benefited from the Sands for Singapore Career Workshops since 2016. Sands for Singapore and Sands Cares, Las Vegas Sands’ corporate giving program, aim to show their commitment to the communities in which they operate and also the commitment to its people by providing volunteer opportunities with various organizations.
