Marina Bay Sands and The Venetian Macao Among The World’s Nine Most Gorgeous Casinos
As featured on Sands Confidential | The official Las Vegas Sands blog
Earlier this year, Architectural Digest named Marina Bay Sands and The Venetian Macao among the nine most gorgeous casinos around the world. Others in the listing include The Ritz Club London, Wynn Las Vegas, Casino de Monte-Carlo, and Casino Baden Baden in Germany.
“These two projects are very different in looks but deliver the same world-class integrated experience,” Lipika Jensen, Executive Director of Pre-Development, said. “Unlike properties with just a casino, our Integrated Resort deliver several luxury amenities under one roof. These properties provide business and leisure amenities to locals and visitors, the experience is second to none.”
Marina Bay Sands opened in 2010 adjacent to Singapore’s central business district. The property has three 55-story hotel towers with over 2,500 rooms and suites. It was Moshe Safdie, the Israeli-born architect who apprenticed with Louis I. Kahn, who designed the $5.6 billion Integrated Resort. Safdie has said it was meant to resemble a deck of cards. The resort’s four-floor casino is one of the most extensive in the world and has one of the greatest Swarovski chandeliers in existence.
“Marina Bay Sands is an architectural icon, remarkable feat of design engineering and construction brought to life with all the amenities of an Integrated Resort,” Jensen said. “No visit to Singapore is complete without going to see MBS.”
Macao is considered to be the Las Vegas of Asia and The Venetian Macao was the first Integrated Resort anchoring the Cotai Strip. It is twice the size of its counterpart in Las Vegas and it also includes one of the region’s largest meetings and convention centers, Cotai Expo. The property also includes the Cotai Arena that hosts a wide range of entertainment and sporting events.
“The Venetian Macao is themed around Venice,” she said. “The guest is immersed in the experiential journey of being transported to Venice. It is an escape from the daily routine. All of our Integrated Resorts are not just any project, they drive tourism and have significant economic impact to the host city. A well-executed property delivers a world class leisure and business destination, iconic architecture and economic benefits to the city and the country. The contribution of an Integrated Resort is multi-dimensional and impacts all facets.”
