Making An Earth Day Connection
By Jeff Bradley on April 19, 2012
At AT&T, we’re committed to responsible business practices every day – whether that’s offering ways to recycle used devices, working with our suppliers to develop a more eco-conscious supply chain or investing in alternative energy sources.
But we have a little something special for our customers this Earth Day.
Today, we’re launching EcoSpace, a consumer-friendly website with all the information our customers need to:
- Shop for AT&T’s eco-conscious products;
- Sign up for paperless billing;
- Manage your account or pay your bills online;
- Get recycling information; and,
- Learn about AT&T’s other sustainability initiatives.
This site will also serve as the portal to our eco-rating system, which is due to officially launch in just a few months.
EcoSpace is significant because it will help us get our customers involved in our sustainability efforts. AT&T has more than 100 million wireless subscribers alone, so helping them meet their own sustainability goals and engaging them in our programs can make a real difference.
Here’s a bit of what our customers will find on the site:
Eco-conscious Products
In the devices section, customers can buy chargers, backup batteries and devices including the just-released LG A340 feature phone, some of the proceeds of which will go to The Nature Conservancy, up to $100,000. And they can get information on the Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate™ – our first UL Platinum certified smartphone, which will be available in coming weeks.
Eco-Ratings
The site includes information on AT&T’s development of a rating system that will help customers better understand important environmental attributes of AT&T-branded mobile devices and make informed choices. Ratings for AT&T devices will be available on the site in the third quarter.
Paperless Billing
Resources customers need to reduce paper use and save time are available on the site. There are easy links to sign up for paperless billing, set email reminders and auto payments, and manage online accounts.
Recycling
The AT&T Reuse and Recycle program options are linked from the site, including information on how recycling can help support soldiers as well as the environment.
Other Sustainability Efforts
EcoSpace also has information about AT&T’s sustainability efforts in other areas, including energy efficiency, fleet operations and our employees’ engagement in environmental efforts. Check out this great infographic for more on our sustainability story.
