Major Leaguers Provide Funds From Players Trust to Help Houston Area Little Leaguers Return to the Diamond

NEW YORK, September 21, 2016 /3BL Media/ - When floods ravaged the Houston, TX area this past spring, the Players Trust stepped to the plate with an $18,000 grant to help get two area Little Leagues back on the field. The grant funded the purchase and distribution of new equipment to ensure that 600 youth from West Oaks and Bear Creek Little Leagues would be able to take the field by the start of their fall season.
West Oaks and Bear Creek were personally selected as recipients of the equipment donation after the Players Trust consulted with a number of Major Leaguers from the area, including Matt Albers, Paul Janish, Scott Kazmir, Anthony Rendon and Chris B. Young. The non-profit Pitch In For Baseball assisted the Players Trust with the purchasing and delivery of the equipment.
This Saturday, September 24, Max Stassi of the Houston Astros and former Astros player and current Major League Baseball Players Association Special Assistant, Jose Cruz, Jr., will represent all Major Leaguers and the Players Trust when they present the new equipment to members of West Oaks and Bear Creek.
The presentation will take place at George Bush Park (17245 Westheimer Parkway, Houston, TX 77082) from 9:00 AM – 11:15 AM (local time). In addition to the formal equipment presentation, the two Little Leagues will play an exhibition game using the new equipment.
