Louisiana Clean Fuel Leader Award Winners Announced
LAFAYETTE, La., May 9, 2016 /3BL Media/ Louisiana Clean Fuels (LCF) announced the winners of the Louisiana Clean Fuel Leader Awards on Apr. 14 during the organization’s annual conference and expo at the Lafayette Cajundome. LCF, a designated US DOE Clean Cities Coalition, awards the top alternative fuel users in the organization’s territory each year. This year’s event hosted over 100 attendees.
Ann Shaneyfelt, Executive Director of LCF said, “Republic Services serves as a great example for utilizing a clean-burning fuel that is produced domestically and regionally. Recently, Republic has been increasing their annual use of compressed natural gas, and supports the local economy by doing so. Because of their efforts, we are proud to honor the company with the Outstanding Private Fleet award.”
Republic Services received the Outstanding Private Fleet award for reducing 672.40 tons of greenhouse gas emissions. The refuse fleet operates 62 natural gas vehicles in LCF’s territory, and is the top fleet in the refuse company category. Calvin Ray, General Manager at Republic Services and LCF Board of Directors member said, “Republic is honored to receive recognition for being a Clean Fuel Leader. We are committed to our environmental initiatives to reduce emissions and lower operating costs.”
The Louisiana Alternative Fuels Conference and Expo is a free event to attendees. Representatives in the alternative fuel industry participate to learn about the use, safety and best business practices associated with alternative fuel vehicles and technologies.
