(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) Mountainside, NJ - September 19, 2011 - Employees and supporters of L’Oréal USA Corporate Operations North America, based in Clark, New Jersey, gathered today for the company’s fourth annual charity golf outing, Fore the Children, held at both Fiddler's Elbow Country Club in Bedminster Township and Fox Hollow Country Club in Branchburg. L’Oréal USA raised a record breaking $500,000 from this year’s event to benefit Children’s Specialized Hospital. L’Oréal’s gift will support the expansion of the hospital’s outpatient services, improving access to comprehensive rehabilitation care for children affected by brain injury, spinal cord injury, premature birth, autism, developmental delays, and life-changing illnesses. Last year the event raised more than $400,000 to benefit the hospital.
The event drew an astounding 780 supporters and included 554 golfers playing 18 holes of golf on two different courses– Fiddler’s Elbow and Fox Hollow Golf Clubs. Additionally attendees enjoyed silent and live auctions and received a goodie-bag with products from key L’Oréal USA’s brands such as Lancôme, L’Oréal Paris, Maybelline, Redken, Matrix and The Body Shop. Major sponsors included LA Enterprises, RockTenn, Unette Corporation, Albea Group, Alpla, Arkay Packaging, CCL Tube, Century Packaging Inc, Coloredge, DMI – Dimensional Merchandising, IBM Corporation, Packaging Corporation of America, POP Displays USA, and Topline Products Co Inc.
“L’Oréal USA Corporate Operations North America employees have done an outstanding job on this event. They have really adopted Children’s Specialized Hospital as their charity of choice,” said Morris Lenczicki, L’Oréal USA Fore the Children committee chair, VP Corporate Operations North America and a trustee of Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation. “Through our annual Fore the Children Golf Outing and special activities throughout the year, we have shown what can be done to make a difference in the lives of others, and how working together for a special cause brings us closer. This is one of the reasons why community service is such an enriching endeavor.”
Andy and Debbie Fitzsimmons know firsthand the importance of having access to qualified medial professionals trained to treat children with special needs. Their son, James, now 10 years old, has Asperger’s syndrome, a developmental disorder that affects a person's ability to socialize and communicate effectively with others. James was diagnosed at Children’s Specialized Hospital in Toms River and attends a special social skills support group for children with similar disorders.
“James just loves attending the social skills group at Children’s Specialized Hospital. He looks forward to interacting with other kids like himself, that understand him and why he communicates differently,” said Andy Fitzsimmons. “We are honored to speak at this year’s L’Oreal Fore the Children golf outing and be a part of an amazing fundraising effort for a very worthy cause.”
