LIXIL Included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the First Time
TOKYO, November 13, 2017 /3BL Media/ – LIXIL Group Corporation (LIXIL Group; TSE code: 5938), a global leader in the housing and buildings industry, announced that for the first time it has earned a place in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for its sustainability performance. LIXIL Group was included in the DJSI Asia-Pacific Index as the highest scoring company in the Building Products Industry, and ranked third globally in this industry group.
LIXIL Group’s inclusion in the DJSI reflects the company’s continued focus on integrating sustainability into its overall business strategies, and the progress it is making in this field across organizational and geographical boundaries. Specifically, this year’s inclusion recognizes the advancements the company is making across social and economic factors, with its scores for labor practices, human capital development, and risk and crisis management all increasing both in absolute and relative terms.
Representing the gold standard for corporate sustainability, the DJSI is an annual sustainability assessment conducted by RobecoSAM, an investment specialist focused exclusively on Sustainability Investing. This year RobecoSAM surveyed over 2,000 of the largest listed companies from around the world on economic, environmental, and social performances of companies. A total of 152 companies were selected for the DJSI Asia-Pacific index.
Kinya Seto, LIXIL Group President and CEO, commented, “LIXIL is proud to be included in the DJSI. Environmental, social, and corporate governance factors play a huge role in the sustainability of our operations, and are of increasing importance for all our stakeholders, including investors, business partners, and employees. At LIXIL we strive to improve the quality of people's lives through safe and comfortable products and services, and responsible and sustainable innovations, through our three strategic Corporate Responsibility pillars; global sanitation and hygiene, water conservation and environmental sustainability, and diversity and inclusion”.
The announcement follows the news in July that LIXIL was listed on the FTSE4Good Index Series and newly created MSCI Japan Empowering Women Index.
